October is #YouthJusticeActionMonth—a national effort to raise awareness and advance a juvenile justice system that promotes safety without perpetuating injustice. For too many young people, contact with the justice system has lifelong consequences, particularly for communities of color.

Education can open doors that the justice system too often closes. @Nuggets forward @skjones24 transforms this awareness into action through his work with Generation Schools Network, a non-profit dedicated to providing education access to young people facing justice-system barriers. The mandate of the juvenile justice system is rehabilitation, which we can achieve by promoting interventions and second chances that promote accountability.

🗳️ With over 100,000 elections happening this year, there’s no such thing as an “off year” for voting.
That’s why the third session of our “Give &amp; Go” Policy Learning Series zeroed in on voting, bringing together members of our community for a conversation on the voting landscape and the #NBA family’s #CivicEngagement efforts—hearing firsthand from the experts.
The discussion opened with remarks from our Head of Programs &amp; Partnerships Mannone Butler, followed by a dynamic panel moderated by @alenciajohnson, featuring: 
🏀 Erika Swilley (ED of the @thenbpa Foundation) 
🏀 Kyle Lierman (CEO of @CivicNation) 
🏀 Anil Nathan (Co-Founder &amp; Co-Chairman of the @wetheveterans Board) 
🏀 James Cadogan (ED of our Coalition)
Together, they explored the current voting landscape—from barriers to access such as felony disenfranchisement and ID requirements, to expansive policies such as voting rights restoration, same-day registration, and early voting—and how the NBA community is stepping up to increase access to the ballot.

In August, the @Cavs and @NBAcoalition teamed up to host A Seat at the Table: Voices of Tomorrow, where we unveiled two major initiatives: the JUMP Leadership Accelerator (JLA) and the Cavs Social Impact Academy.
Rooted in the tradition of the historic #1967ClevelandSummit, the event brought together more than 150 community leaders, sports professionals, and aspiring young advocates at @rocketarena, just miles from the site of the original Summit. First unveiled at the “A Seat at the Table: Voices of Tomorrow” Summit in Cleveland, JLA is a partnership between our Coalition, @jump_theproject, and @jobsforthefuture. This season, our first cohort of JUMP Leaders will get hands-on experience with NBA teams and grassroots organizations—building skills, networks, and careers in policy leadership. 🙌🏾
